1. Do you offer an interpreter?

A Spanish interpreter is always available during court sessions. If you need another language, please notify the court staff prior to your court appearance.

2. Can I pay my ticket fine over the telephone?

No, but you can pay your ticket at New Jersey Courts Online, in person, or you can mail your payment.

3. How can I apply for a Public Defender?

You can apply for a Public Defender in court. The Judge will determine if you are eligible based on your offense and income.

4. If I pay my ticket, how many points will I get on my license?

Refer to the point schedule on New Jersey Courts Online.

5. How do I know if my ticket is payable?

Your ticket is payable if it is not marked "Court Appearance Required". Your payment amount can be found on the Statewide Violations Bureau Schedule on the back of your summons.

6. What should I do if I do not have my complaint or summons number from my ticket?

Be prepared to tell the court staff your driver's license number so they can assist you.

7. Why do I have to get a new court date, when there is already one on my speeding violations summons?

The date shown on your summons is your payment date. This date would represent a court date if a court appearance is required.

8. Will I need a lawyer if I received a ticket?

Our Court staff cannot offer legal advice. Depending on the offense, the Judge will advise you on how to proceed.
